Week 2 another banner day

12th hole

12th hole at Campbells Scottish Highlands

Week two was another great week with the temps about 20 degrees cooler than week one. This week we teed off on the back nine and we saw a few low numbers.

In the A flight El Presidento was playing the Master and when El Presidento is on not too many people can beat him. You just can’t make a mistake. This week Wilson’s biggest mistakes came on 11 & 12. Wilson’s putter went bye bye. He never brought it, so to speak. The 4 putt on 11 nailed the coffin shut. Although the double bogey on 12 didn’t help much either. For Wilson 6 over on the back nine is unacceptable. Lucky me, I get him on the back nine next Wednesday. I just hope my game is a s good as it was on week 3.

Jim Waterman continued his strong play as he tripped up sub Dave Murphy by 5 strokes and he had to give him 4. Just enough to put him away. Murphy faulted on the tough par 5 18th as the wind was in our face pretty much the whole way up the hole.

Rick Maloney continued to play like the MVP he usually is as he creep-ed by Jim Zaherious on the 13th hole as Mr. Z had a horrendous 11 and that was enough for Maloney to skate on in with 3 points. Just have to watch those big numbers.

Ole steady Alan Imlach continued to plug along and take points as he went head to head with last years new comer Jack Goulet. Alan spotted him 3 strokes and walked away with this match on hole 15 and Alan won by 6 strokes. Jack seemed to struggle from holes 12 through 16 which led to his demise against Alan.

This week Norm “I ran into a Buzz saw” Pelletier met his match against Rusty “I can hit the ball a long way” Gill on the back nine as the match was tight early on and Pelletier went one up with 4 holes to play. On holes 16 and 17 Pelletier struggled and couldn’t find his way home as Gill put him away by parring the 18th hole to win one up and Gill won by a net 3 strokes. Gill will be out the next two weeks. But he has a sub that can hit it a long way too.

Mike “I wish I was on the island Lost” Berry played Norm “I am sick of forced retirement” Comeau battled tooth and nail as it came down to the last hole as Berry parred 18 and Comeau stumbled and bogeyed. Comeau jumped out to a quick 2 up lead and then lost 13 but was not able to sustain his lead as Berry fought back and won 15 and 16 and then Berry closed Comeau out on 18 to take all four points.

Erkan Duzenli matched up against Steve “I hit from the wrong side of the ball” Maddox and Erkan jumped to a quick one up but found himself quickly down 2 holes through 14 but Erkan made his charge on 15,16,17,18 to split his match with Maddox. Having to give Maddox 3 strokes and shooting snowmen on 12 and 13 prevented Erkan from sweeping all 4 points. Snowmen are only good during the winter time when playing with the kids.

Newcomer Dennis “I live on the golf course “Croteau played Skip “I also live on the golf course” Gray and Croteau jumped out to an early 3 up lead and then Gray scratched his way back to one down through 14 but Croteau proved to be to much as he closed Gray out by winning three of the last four holes.

The Scotsman Jim Marnie took on Jay “my back still hurts” McGillicuddy and the match was all even after 14 but a nice head wind and not enough club forced McGill to lose 15 as Marnie snagged closest to the pin on this hole and took a one up lead but, Marnie was too tough for McGill and Marnie closed McGill out with ease on 16,17, 18. McGill will be ready for Marnie when they play again on the front nine.

Steve “I used to be an A player” King played Glenn “I can beat an A player” Acciard and they had a back and forth match all the way through to the 18th tee when Acciard closed out king on the 18th green with a par putt and King could do no better than a bogey. King having to give two strokes one by one stoke but with the handicap lost by one. King is struggling and look for him to bounce back soon.

Mike Landry took on Tom “my practice swing is 2x faster than anyone Else’s swing” Hale and Hale found himself down 2 holes real quick and then was 3 down going to 15 and scrambled to win 15 but halved 16 and 17 but winning 18 Hale found himself fresh out of any more holes to win. So, Hale goes down in flames by losing holes 3 to 2 and 2 strokes. Tom just lost his mother last week and we are sure Tom had more on his mind than playing golf.

Paul “I love retirement” Comeau took on Rich “I can’t wait to go to Las Vegas” Juknavorian and Comeau whooped Juke as Juke fell apart on 12 and could not recover from an 11 on that hole and was closed out by Comeau on 17. Hopefully Juke will have better luck in Vegas.

Week 3 was another great golfing day as we have never seen this type of great weather so early in the season. Look for week 3 updates later on.
